Wedding Tasters

What to expect

It is no secret that wedding food is a key element of your day, so finding a caterer who understands your vision and who can also back it up in the kitchen is important!

That is why we, at Fossil Food Catering, love hosting taster sessions for couples to try our food before the big day itself - to ensure we nail every last detail of your wedding breakfast! But what exactly does a taster session mean? We have answered some of our most frequently asked questions to explain...

What can we expect to try at one of your wedding catering tasters?

We like to make our tasters bespoke to each couple. Therefore no two tasters are the same. We will call or email (whichever you prefer) to discuss the content of the food and serving style you wish to try at your taster. We’ve found this creates a unique experience based on both of your personal tastes. You can try a variety of serving options; from a selection of more formal plated meals to less formal wedding sharing boards - the taster is all about showing you our catering options.

Where are the tasters hosted?

Full location will be disclosed on confirmation of your taster booking, but we can promise a pretty countryside setting on the border of fossil famous coastal town of Lyme Regis . We aim to create a relaxed environment in which you can enjoy some delicious food and get excited for the big day. One of our Brides-to-be described their taster as if she was having dinner round a friends house - and that is exactly the vibe we are striving for!

How many people can attend a taster?

Either your significant other and yourself, or if you wish to get a second opinion you may bring an additional two people. So please feel free to get your parents involved or the maid of honour and best man – we would love to meet them!

Do we have to book our wedding with you before the taster?

Nope – not necessarily! As you may know already we only cater for a select amount of weddings per season – quality over quantity is our motto. We want to avoid becoming a wedding factory and believe a personal touch goes a long way. Hence why our availability is limited. Some couples opt to secure their wedding date before the taster; as once the date is taken, it’s gone. Others prefer to try before they buy, so to speak! We are happy to accommodate either option.

Are they sample size portions?

Not in the slightest – we deliberately plan our tasters around meal times, as our portions are pretty hefty. We serve the food how we envision it to look and taste on the day and the size of the portion will be to scale. No one goes hungry here! We have even been known to send couples home with takeaway boxes of our food (eco-friendly ones of course!)

I have a dietary requirement, can you cater for me?

Of course! We are highly experienced in catering for a wide range of dietary requirements. Please do let us know of your requirement during the booking process and we will be more than happy to accommodate.

Can we ask for wedding planning advice during our taster?

Absolutely - in fact, it is encouraged! After you have tried our food, we can certainly sit down together with a cuppa, make some plans and answer your questions. It is a good time to make any tweaks to the menu, whilst it is fresh in your minds, and we can offer advice on a range of topics. It doesn’t even have to be catering related – if we can help, we will!

All sounds great! When can we book?

We would love to meet you! Please do get in contact either using our contact us box here or email directly to info@fossilfoodcatering.co.uk to discuss availability. During high wedding season it may not always be possible for a weekend appointment but we can be flexible around your busy schedules, offering evening and lunch time slots most days. We know our couples often travel far and wide to get married in beautiful Dorset and Devon, so please do advise if you are traveling to us by train. We will be more than happy to pick you up from the local train station.

We hope these FAQ’s have helped answer some of your questions about taster sessions! If you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Happy Fri-yay!
